The call of Ra(拉的呼喚)

For quite a while, we have had nothing but grey skies, fuzzy fogs and even a black rainstorm or two.

So it's a real delight to see the sun again

and to follow wherever it casts its shadows

whether it also reflects

the hand or mind of man

or just the force of gravity

whether they are dilapidated

and abandoned

or is still spinning in the summer breeze

or lie crumbled up in a a confusing tangle

whether they used to be alive

or were once floundering in some unknown seas

or hiding their trembling life under some shells

or whether still full of life

whether they be leaves

which suddenly take on various hues

or flowers

whether they hang above our heads

or are content just to stretch themselves above other leaves

or merely lie listlessly on the ground

whether they were once elsewhere

or are still struggling for a place under the rays of Ra.

or simply basking itself in its light.

either solo or in clusters

I like the way the sun brings out the sheen of green leaves

or they way it confers a kind of quiet vibrancy to otherwise quite ordinary river banks

and especially the silvery shimmering upon the surface of small ponds

I understand why Monet never gets tired of his pond.

Even an ordinary bamboo stick can look quite different.

It's always amazes me to find life and beauty in the most unlikely places

Can you believe it, they are spider like insects!

I was lucky

without expecting them, I saw two dragon boats making the rounds of Tai O this morning in an annual ceremony which now forms part of an accepted UN human cultural heritage
